Happy Pepero Day!

November 11th in Korea is Pepero day. Pepero are these thin cookie sticks dipped in chocolate. It is Pepero day on November 11th because the company pointed out in a nationally televised commercial series that a pepero looks like number "1" so 11-11 should be pepero day!

Some of the teachers complain it's comercial, but I got like a gazzillion boxes of Pepero today already from my students. They even have special Pepero day packaging on some.

Also, you are supposed to give bigger Pepero things to your love interest, and some of the students got the GIANORMOUS Pepero baskets that include stuffed animals and fake feathers and the works. I guess they cost over 50,000 won (approx 50 USD), so my question is what the HECK are middle schoolers doing with that much money, if they have that much money why are they spending it on thier midle school love interests and lastly, why haven't I gotten one?

I saw one girl who had TWO huge pepero baskets. I don't think she can carry both home they are so big, so why didn't she give one to me?

Oh well, I guess I'll have to be content with my winters supply of pepero instead of a year's supply.

Anyway, happy Pepero day everyone!
