America Rules!

okay, so because of finals I teach for one day next week, and I thought it wuld be fun to do a little "I love America" day in honor of the forth and all- does anyone have any independence day games they played when little?

At first I thought we could set off fireworks, but then decided maybe not so much. Next of course was "let's grill brats and drink beer". Well, again, I don't think that would be a good idea. Maybe we could get away with some chips and dip, but without the scary red and bue died chips it's just not the same.

Anyway, I can always fall back on bingo, the ultimate classroom slack off game, but if you have any great childhood traditions that don't involve setting things on fire or getting really drunk please share!

I like Strawberry, that 's an excellent name!

the wheels on the bus go round and round

a new cat! I'm so jealous! What are you going to name it?

I get to house sit for a kitten starting in another week and let me tell you, I am pumped!

I have noticed that the high temps back home have been NUTS. Ginny, I'm with you on the heat thing.

It has been fairly cool in korea but mad humid. It's rainy season starting this week, and it's rained everyday so far. Sunday night rained so hard I barely slept. It was INSANE. As insane as my hair is now. My poor hair can't handle the 100% humidity constantly. Everyday I leave the house and it's relatively straight. everyday I get to school in the morning and I have a fro.

My dad has tickets to come visit me in July, and I'm really excited. first person from back home I've seen since I left!

By the way, the new going to madison plan is September 2nd-whenever. There is a football game that wekend and many APT shows. So mark your calanders... tentatively.

I miss you guys. Stop having fun without me!

holy crap it is as hot outside my body as it is inside my body. i do NOT care for such extreme heat! regular heat, like 85 or so, totally fine. 98 is crazy though! not for me! the warehouse has one window unit for the entire floor. around 2 pm every day the sun starts reflecting off the windows of the building across the street straight into our office and it really gets sticky. yuck yuck yuck.

i'm going to a cuuubs game tonight. they might be playing the brewers. i take that back, they ARE playing the brewers!! sweet sauce.

sooo, the party i had on saturday was really fun. i wish you all could have come to it. mara - how was the wedding?!

we took year book mug shots against my wall and voted for superlatives like 'best dressed' and 'cutest couple'. results will be unveiled at the pool party.

i wanna go to the beach.

mk - you are so completely awesome. i hope you are having so much fun in MN again. i had a blast last weekend.

lk - you are so much more qualified for a great job than 87% of the people i know.

madison tonight was great, i'm having a part tomorrow, my life is pretty good. what can i say? kristin has two beautiful and friendly kittens who i want to steal for my very own. we did not swim in the lake tonight, despite my efforts to make such plans happen. it's too lightningey.

boo.

okay, it's been a while, I have been very neglectful!

Gin- that radio station was that in ROCHESTER? I don't understand. Has something strange happened while I was gone?

Molly- 10:13! is that really wise?

Quite a bit to report here in korea, but none of it interesting. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell I'm going to do come my unemployment date August 22. I am looking a jobs here so far with mediocre results, and also in the state, but you know how that is.

Mostly I'm realyl ready for school to be over. It's frickin the end of June and I have a month left. That's what's wrong with korea. You have a huge break in winter when it's too cold to enjoy it (and no snow, so you can't even do snowy stuff) and a short break in summer. So all the kids sit around dying because it's frickin hot and ready to be playing outside. Heck, I'm ready. Also, supposedly the rainy season starts soon- so the one mounth vacation they do get is during the worst rain of the year? not very logical.

anyway, like I said, not very interesting. No glamorous poolsides for me.

If you know anyone willing to hire an unqualifed graduate of UW-Madison with one year of experience teaching middle schoolers in korea let me know!

Peace out.

sooooommmer

good lord it's so hard to be at work when it's nice out. chicago (and the rest of the midwest i'm sure) is headed for major drought right now, so good thing i'm not a farmer. the skies have been clear and sunny and pleasant for like 3 weeks now, and the forecast doesn't have a drop in it for like two more. me and my bicycle tires LOVE it. i keep having dreams lately where i have major flat tires.

could i be visualizing some sort of "stuck in my path, unable to go anywhere with my life" thing in my sleep?

anyway. i think i am going to madison on friday after work. i'll only be there for like 15 hours. michael's band is playing in the sector 5 record release, and meghan o'c is in from canadah. plus - theres always the remote chance of making out with my hairdresser. ooh la la la.

k - dawg - i'm crashing at your place. BTW all those weird 312 phone calls you've been getting lately are me calling from work.

smoochos!

alright girls, we made a pact last night to keep this sucka running, so i'm throwing down. OMG the westfire is so crazy and intrigueing!!! i want to go there all the time! it's like a fucking high school dance! it was an amazing time and i am glad i got to hang out with the three of yous.

i found the best ever radio station while here. 88.7 is the MPR indie rock station, so there are no commercials, and they play amazing stuff. setlists include:

-bob dylan
-bright eyes
-kid dakota
-low
-neil young
-flaming lips
-eels
-emmylou harris
-dangermouse
-the avalanches
-bloc party
-sonic youth

its seriously almost enough to make me want to move back here, just so i can listen to the radio all the time. it blew my mind.

alright my moms is breaking out the fuzzy navels at 12:45 in the afternoon. i must go be a part of this. mara - my brother and i may crash your pool around 3 pm today.

muchos smoochos.
