You don't eat no meat! It's okay, I make lamb.

Alright, no one has written anything in a while so I thought I'd just throw something out here.

Sunday is Easter (for us crazy Orthodox) and so I've gone to church in Seoul the past two nights. The church happens to be a 2 hour bus/subway ride away. That means I'm getting home around 10:30-11:00 at night, which really sucks.

Luckily it's Friday, which rules. Next week is midterms so I have three days of sitting and doing nothing. Followed by a one day holiday and then one day of teaching on Friday. It's going to be rough, let me tell you.

In other news a boy fell out of a third story window yesterday. They have basically no window safety at my school, and ledges outside the windows, so kids think they can mess around up there. Luckily I think he's going to be okay. I saw they take him away in the ambulence and he was moving around, so he must not have broken his neck.

Gin, you still liking your new place?
Mol, you liking your new job? (and by new I mean salaried)
Everyone else, I miss you guys tons. Start saving your money and get your asses over here!

Oh, and happy Easter everyone. Opa!

moving suxxxxx

agggghhhh i am more sore today than i have ever been. i moved yesterday. i now live in a realy sketchball neighborhood in ukranian village, so far south i'm almost west loop. its great though. all my neighbors are either polish, hipster scenesters like me, or gang bangers. there was a shooting 6 blocks from my house on friday. my new apartment is a MESS because i can't find my hammer or a proper drill bit, so i can't get anything hung up or put away.

mara - i think i do want to go to nate kerl's wedding. like i said, if i do i will stay with my brother and you are welcome to crash at his place too. the only thing that would stop me from going is $$$. i need to go to madison for a visit in the next few weeks, i need to go see my parents within the next month or two, i have a wedding in madison in august, and now this in late june. i don't have the cash to be traveling around tons, nor do i have the time off.

last night i went out with some of the girls to meet up with matt-that-i-am-no-longer-dating and his friend TJ. TJ is moving here from florida in three weeks and i think i like him so much more than i ever liked matt. is it bad for me to want to date TJ now? we had fun, but the combination of exhaustion, sore muscles, dehydration, and no dinner got me wasted off one gimlet. i had to go home at like 12:30.

so today i've got to pick up a few last things in the ravenshood and head back down to uke village for more cleaning. this place is so old i think its infinitely dirty. aaaaaerrrruioghhhhhhhhhh.

you're the jive guru when i wanna sing along with you

there was an earthquake tonight. i was standing on the train platform at belmont waiting for the brown line and enjoying the last of the daylight all wrapped up in a scarf. i just picked up the keys to my new apartment and ran smack into josh, who i hadn't seen in three months. he is ashleys friend, the catalyst to the event that left me still drunk at 8:30 am, calling in sick to work the day before my three-day-new-years-eve-holiday-weekend. it started with police sirens. a purple line train was just pulling away and the platform rumbled. and the rumblings got worse and worse as the train got farther and farther away. everyone started crouching down, trying to stay balanced while realizing that we were all suspended thirty feet in the air. i laid down on my stomach, the two people beside me started kissing. the platform rocked and i saw a crevasse opening up down the street, right in front of the L & L.

then i snapped out of it as my train arrived.

liz that is totally amazing. for some reason it reminds of how in australia the word 'rooting' is slang for sex, so they think the song 'take me out to the ballgame' is the most hilarious song ever, because of the 'root, root, root for the home team' part.

SO DID ANYONE ELSE GET AN INVITATION TO NATE KERL'S WEDDING TODAY?!?

holy crap, i haven't talked to nate in like two years except for very briefly at kim's wedding! if i was getting married this summer i honestly probably would not have invited him. but i'm totally going to try to go. its outside of minneapolis so i can stay with my brother. if any of the rest of you are going, you can definitely stay with my brother too. he's a hospitable guy.

oh man, i have been biking my ass off lately. last night i bike all the way down to the loop, and then to wicker park. we formed a posse of cruisers, went to see kid dakota at the hideout (it was an amazing show, their drummer is INCREDIBLE) and then biked around wicker park more at 1 am. i slept and jenny's house and came home this morning by way of a few shoe stores at clark and belmont. no stores had what i wanted in my size, so i ordered two pairs off zappos when i got home. yeah!

i decided today that i REALLY want a freitag messenger bag too but they're like $175.00!! i had no idea they were that expensive.

i have spent like 5 hours today packing up my apartment and i don't seem to be getting anywhere. time to put in another hour or so more before i go out tonight.

Dung

Here's another funny story for you (it will be funny for me, only wait a few weeks) from the field:

So I'm practicing "Sh" and "S" in class and it's friday, my third class out of four for the day and my 15th or so time repeating the same damn lesson. At the very end of class my coteacher says to me that one of the sounds I was having them repeat in korean means "dung flushed out of body... and also pee pee" (those exact words) and that is why they were laughing at the end of class.

Well, my lesson plan is going to get a small tweak before the last time I do it. Seriously, how come no one mentioned it before?!

I love my job...

time to sober up

okay, I'm starting to feel like I'm in college again. This week I have had days off of school for many different reasons and I have been drinking WAY too much.

Saturday was my birthday so I had a party which included spin the bottle, a strip tease (no clothes were actually taken off) more shots then are good for a person and who knows what else that I can't remember. Then in the morning (8am) we started on the bloody marys and mamosas while watching basketball. I had to go to school monday, but monday night I was back to it. And tuesday night, and wednesday afternoon. Now it's thusrsday and I'm teaching again and wondering what the hell I was thinking.

I also promised that I would eat dinner with a coworker and her sister tonight, which means soju, and then tomorrow the weekend starts. no rest for the wicked.

Also, on the feminist front this weekend in Seoul there is a women's film festival. Me and a couple of the girls are going to see some movies about prositutes and I'm really looking forward to it.

Gin, I'm so sorry about your car, I'm glad you weren't hurt. how much money are you going to get for it?

Mol, the orange santa isn't homeless. He just really likes hanging around library mall, and who can blame him!

K, I'm glad your trip was good. Where did you see the aligator? was it a wild one or in a zoo?

Also, I have decided to stay another in korea (don't mention it to my sister or aunts, they don't know yet, only my mum and dad). This means that although you will have to spend more time in a different country than me (don't cry) you also have another year and 4 months to save money and visit.

There's the bell, time to teach...

I miss you all!

time to wake up. so its spring now in chicago, and without a car its perfect timing for me to get out my bike. i took her out from the basement on sunday, had her tires filled up and started pounding the pavement. we went down to lincoln park and rode around for a few hours, did a little shopping, whatnot. lincoln park really is beautiful, its no wonder why all the rich yuppies want to live there. and if you can avoid the parking nightmare that comes from owning a car down there its not even that expensive. you can still find a one bedroom for under $700.

my car is totalled. state farm is writing me a check for it this week, and the towing service was supposed to come pick it up today, but stupid me, i locked the doors. i remembered to leave the key folded in the visor, but i guess i assumed they'd break the door open with a coat hanger or something. i had to leave my stereo face on the cd player and i didn't want anyone stealing it while i was at work.

i went to a brewers game this weekend in milwaukee! it was so much fun! i LOVE baseball. this was the first major league game i'd been to since 1991. god bless the twins.

its sooooo warm. i'm so excited to move to wicker park and bike EVERYWHERE in less than two weeks. i haven't packed anything yet. thats very unlike me, normally i start taking things off the walls months in advance and spend the last few weeks feeling lonely in my bare and boxed up apartment.

i also took my first trip to south of jackson avenue in chicago on sunday. jackson is 300 south, the city technically stretches to 9500 south and beyond. i have a lot more exploring to do. matt and i went to chinatown and bought curry paste and candy. and moon cakes. i should have gotton extra for this week, they're so yummy.

now to either knit a little bit or pack a little bit. i REALLY don't want to pack.
