yeah so on friday morning, circa 3:30 am i got majorly rear-ended by some ass who was trying to answer his cell phone and dropped it. i was giving a ride home from a loft party to steve, eddie, and elizabeth. my car is totaled. we had to wait by the side of the road for an hour for the police and tow truck situation to be resolved. my truck now folded into a space six inches deep. and amazingly enough, none of us are hurt aside from some intenses cases of whiplash. so now i have a sore fucking neck, no car, and an apartment full of stuff that isn't going to move itself in the next two weeks.

dave thinks i should buy a moped.

i hate march.

thank god thank god thank god that none of us are hurt though.

Public Service Announcement

I have noticed by extensive reading of sports columnists from many different medias that no one believes, or really wants, Wisconsin can beat NC State Friday.

I am very offended by this, and would ask that everyone out of state (WI) to remind your coworkers at the water cooler that the Badgers are fo real!

Mol, I can't believe Johnny O's was closed again. Lame asses! I'm glad you did get to watch the game on the big screen though... while I listened online (she adds bitterly)

Anyway, I've got to continue my campaign to boost the general korean faith in the Wisconsin Badger Men's Basketball team- an uphill battle, I can tell you.

End public service announcement

U Rah Rah!

Well for those of you not watching the NCAA tourney with as much enthusiasm as myself it is my honor to tell you the badgers managed to beat Bucknell in round two, and now advance to the sweet 16. I have them going to eliete 8 in my brackets, so they had better win at least one more. That's right, I'm talking to you, Bo.

Molly- I sure hope you had the spotted cow for me! Was the crowd as Johnny O's as pumped as it was last year?
Gin-dog- good'oh about the apartment! I feel wierd that I never got to see the one you are living in now. It's as, to me, you never lived there.
Marie- are you sure it was really her? I watched an episode of whatever that show is with her and she seemed like a flake. And besides that she snubbed an octoberfect celebration and said brats look gross. I just can't imagine anyone being nice who thinks that!

And yes, no matter what I decide to do next year there will definately be some sort of gathering in madtown (and honestly probably good old roch, too) involving cheese curds and beer that doesn't taste like piss. And probably some proper tonic drinks as well.

Anyway, so another classroom story (this one will shed some light on the korean educational system):

So today I did a think with the third graders where we listened to "if I had a million dollars" and then I everyone had to write things they would do with the money... in the very biginning of class one of the students broke another kids glasses. They were looking for the screw during the three times I played the song- I let them look since I knew what was going on, and my co-teacher just didn't get it. She yelled at them once, but theyu pretty much ignored them

So the kids are doing their writing relatively silently, and I asked my co-teacher if she had any tape on her (the kid was holding his glasses with one hand and writing with the other, not pretty) She asked why and I said "to fix this students glasses" she had no idea they were broken. Seriously...

ps - my brother called me this morning around 10 to tell me that he was loading up his car with a sleeping bag and a roommate named john and they were coming to visit me until wednesday!

yeehaw! i'm gonna take them to play some hillbilly bingo at the pontiac tonight!

i signed a new lease two hours ago.

for a two bedroom apartment right in the middle of wicker park.

i can practically smell the innertown pub from my new front stoop.

i get to move in near the end of april.

jennifriend will be my flatmate mid august.

the rent is only *seven hundred and twenty five dollars*.

are you kidding me?!?! i love chicago. rent here is ridiculously cheap.

I like to dog

Marie, here's a funny story from Korea. I'm teaching kids this week "I like to, I want to, I hope to." -Basically to + infinative. I went through this whole long thing of examples on the board for around a half hour and when I asked them to write thier own sentances this is what I came up with:

"I want to computer"
"I like to listen to music and teeth" (actually, this is pretty good use of to + infinative)
"I like to dog" (I didn't ask)

ARGH! Some of the kids got it, but for the most part they are having trouble inserting their verbs correctly. Of course one girl wrote "I like to rock" which I thought was awesome despite the fact that she didn't actually mean she liked to rock, she meant that she liked rock music.

I'm really jealous of all the celebs you guys are meeting. I'm especially jealous that Saul got to meet Al Sharpton. It's cool that he went to Kabul to eat. The reverand knows what's up!

Gin, I don't think it's bad if you want to talk about the good ol' days in madison! In fact, I've found that when you put madison people together outside of madison it is inevitable. Especially when the place outside madison is South Korea where good beer is impossible to find, as is good cheese, and there are no lakes/plazas/middle eastern food to speak of.

I have no idea when I will be coming home. If I decide not to stay another year I will be coming home at the very end of August. But I'm thinking about renewing my contract. If that happens I will be coming home for a few weeks around July/August probably. What do you think? If I stay here I can save more money, but I have a plan for when I'm back so should I hang out here another year or move on with life?

Okay, I better get back to work- my goal for next week is to firm up some grammer points and give out some candy to make sure all the students still like me. The latter part of the plan is obviously the most important.

Anyonghikaseyo! (sp?)

so i had to call the university book store in madison today about an order they placed last week. (they buy cards from us). i managed to refrain from geeking out and saying "oh my god, i totally went to school in madison! i graduated last spring! i used to buy books from you!" but it made me miss madison a lot, we spent most of the afternoon at the office talking about the good old days when happy hour started at 4:30 pm and went until 1 am.

kristin - can i come spent a weekend with you mid-april? if i have time?

OR if you and saul want to come spend the weekend with me the last weekend of april you can help me move! doesn't that sound like so much fun?!

blarg, dead blog. sorry about those tickets marie, but in may i will be coming to see you for a bit and we can practice grand tour jetes and drink martinis with the boys from the strokes. minus the one that drew barrymores got her mitts on.

work has been CRAZY this week. i started my week by getting yelled at for an hour straight by an invitation designer in beverly hills who did some work for nicole kidman that we apparently fucked up. it was her fault really, she asked for cards when she wanted folded notes. we sent her cards, because, you know, she ASKED for them. whatever.

the poor woman had to pause her yelling at me to call her shrink and make an extra appointment for the week because, in her words, she was "so filled with aggression right now that if you can't fit me in for an extra session i'm going to snap!!!!!"

o h m y g o d. i think the entire zip code of 90210 needs to be institutionalized. but guess how the conversation ended? her other phone rang and she yelled "oh jesus i have to go, thats vin diesel on the other line!"

meghan - you should take a break from class some day and go to the store paper-ya on granville island. they buy our paper. tell them you know the customer service manager. thats me!

i wish it wasn't so cold here! i keep not wearing my coat because thoughts begat actions, right? not with the weather apparently. my not wearing a coat doesn't make it warm out.

so i really need to come visit madison SOON. but in the mean time i am going to cheat on my hairdresser this friday, cuz i need a trim very very badly. but i'll be thinking of jason the whole time, i swear!

oh, hey, oops, when i said i didn't want to live this far north anymore, i meant within the city. as in, i want to live closer to downtown and wicker park....tee hee. not closer down to the mexican border...but other than that liz, i would totally be your roommate in atlanta. when are you going to be going there?

i need a hair cut real bad. i'm being so slow this morning, i gotta go or i'm totally going to be late for work.

you are my liiiiiiiife!

Well the new "English Zone" at my school is almost complete. They started moving in the furniture today- desks, chairs, giant ass TV's the works.

I found out while looking at the newly constructed rooms that I'm going to be getting MY OWN OFFICE. That's right, a nice new private office for me. I'm hoping there's a couch and an oven in it, but I'll settle for a few chairs behind MY desk. I also feel like I should really enjoy the office and take great care in decoration and mood lighting as it may be the last private office I'll have for a while. And while it's not HUGE it is definately good sized and not a closet. I'm sure I'll give you measurements at some point.

Speaking of contacts I've been wearing my glasses the last 2 months straight because I wore through the last pair. And now I'm supposed to go to a korean doctor to get my prescription but I'm not sure how that's going to work. How do you say "Which is better, one or two?" in korean? I just thought I would throw that in there for you, G, just in case you feeled bummed out about having to go to the doctors. It could be worse!

Ginny, you should move to Atlanta because that probably where I'll end up going for a while when I come back. we could be roomies. As long as I have my own private office.

Meghan, I would really like to see your exam question son design history. You know I was just thinking about questions to put on my english tests, maybe I can reuse them.

You are all my life-

yo yo yo.

i'm moving because my lease is up and i either have to sign for a whole nother year or move out. i'm not staying this far north for another 12 months, though i wouldn't mind it for another 5.

i had my first ballet class at the old town school of music on monday night. the teacher was all saying stuff like tandeau, plie, EN LAIR! i thought of you marie!

i have an eye exam this weekend, which is good because my contancts are FUCKED. and they won't sell me new un-clouded ones until i take a new eye test. thank god i don't drive much anymore, i can barely see out of these things. kristin witnessed that first hand while in chicago....
