Halloween Update-Korea

Well, it's official, no one in Korea really UNDERSTANDS how kick-ass a holiday Halloween is.

First of all, no one here knows who Bruce Springsteen is. Not that it has anything to do with Halloween, but you would think a nation who hates Bush so much would take the time to find out what music Kerry likes. As you are all aware I am SUPER DUPER jealous of Mara. It's just not fair, the Badgers are 8-0 (ranked 5/4 in the AP and coaches poll), Bruce was in Madison doing a street concert and to top it all off I missed Halloween on state street. I should have take my vaccation time last week and flown back!

Anyway, if you ever go abroad for a year make sure and take some people from madison with you. Saturday afternoon me and some awesome peeps here headed for Everland, an amusement park that has lots of halloween celebrations. We arrived around 1-1:30 and went directly to find beer. The beer garden was closed (lame) but we managed to find an area that had a beer place and food. So we sat there for 4 hours.

After getting a bit buzzed we decided to go on some rides. But we passed a peting zoo and got sidetracked with some animals. We finally did go on a few rides and ate dinner and watched some fireworks. But there was one catch: they had started taking the halloween stuff down and putting up (you guessed it) christmas decorations. The day before Halloween and the halloween decorations were already coming down. How.... STUPID!

It was fun though, but we headed home eventually to my apt. We had some halloween treats I had prepared (suckers made to look like ghosts, m&m, etc) and did some more drinking and then headed to a bar...

at the bar we drank out of the coolest mini-keg-ish think ever. So we drank, drank, drank with a little bit of snacking until about 2 and then went to the noreabang.

Somehow we got the VIP room which included three tamborines and a drum machine. We were dancing on the tables, dancing, "singing" We had some butt druming goin on, and somehow, through all of this someone took a video on a digital camera.

I have to find a way to send you guys this video it is FRICKEN hilarious. So our Noreabang time ran out- we sang a few songs in harmony sans music and words before leaving and finally called it quits around 4am. In the morning (we actually got up before noon!) I saw everyone off, bought a TON of candy (for the kids coming to my desk to trick-or-treat today) and then lesson planned- only to wake up today with no voice what-so-ever and a horribly plugged nose.

I feel really guity today, but there's no way I can teach so I'm just hanging out at my deak all day drinking coious amounts of tea and sucking on hard candy since I haven't been able to find halls yet.

Anyway, I want to here your stories about mad-town. I read that there was a minor (compared to previous years) disturbance pretty late at night, but the Mayor is PISSED.

Okay, I'm done- this is really long!
